I think I underestimated how popular one of my favorite bands were. I LOVE Open Letter and im aware that they only have 6000 monthly listeners but I thought with the other two bands, they would at least come close to selling out. Tell me why there was only like 20 people in a venue that can hold 300. More people should listen, and know about Open Letter. Florid and Daisy Chain are my personal favorites.
The show was great but I fear I couldn't hear a single thing any of the singers were saying because the mics were really quite and the instruments were really loud. Im not complaining about that, I genuinely love it when music destroys my eardrums. I gotta use my ears while I still can. Im not sure if the mics being quite is an all the time thing or what. It could be possible I was just too close to the stage and that's why everything was inaudible but the show was great non the less.
I thought it was really funny that the lead guitarist of the second band, Suture and Sew, had his swipe vape just chillin on the amp. I've never seen a swipe vape in person before so it was really interesting.
I felt too much like a fan. I thought maybe that there had to be SOME fans in washington. If I liked them then other people surely would aswell. I was treating them like everyone knew who they were. I made stickers and gave them to the band, i made a big deal about them talking to me, I debated spending all my money on their merch, I got a photo with them, I recorded like half the concert, I was just doing too much. I could've been nonchalant but I love their music too much. 🥀
The first band, Daffodil Motel was really good. Their drummer did this cool thing where one of the drum sticks slipped out of his hand and almost hit the singer. someone who i think worked for the venue jumped onstage and handed it back to the drummer and it was pretty cool.
The cafe at Real Art is awesome too. I got a cappuccino and chugged it immediately. I liked how they had old movies playing on combo TVs and old video games in the bar area. It was really cool.
The price of the ticket was really good too. 5 whole dollars with my student ID. Normally it would be 10 for people who aren't in high school which is still really good. The merch too was pretty cheap. $40 for a jacket was inane to see. I was just at Conan Gray two days before and he was selling SHIRTS for $40. I hate capitalism. A normal cotten shirt costs 4 dollars at Michael's and screen printing can cost from $5-$15 or more (if you want to get fancy) so why are we selling them for double the price it took to make them?? Supporting your favorite bands shouldn't be a privilege. A Open Letter shirt costs me $25 which was awesome. The other bands had shirts for 20 but I had already spent my money on Open Letter merch. I have to stop going to shows with only 40 dollars.
Im definitely going to start attending more Real Art shows. I dont care if I dont know the band, ill always support whoever is playing. I'll add photos from the show below
-Fagulia out!!
